my favorite knives have pen blades

holdovers from the days of quill and ink

turkey feather pens have been replaced

my pens have steel nibs

which is as far as i am willing to go

deep blue ink from France

flowing easily

and slowly onto the page

synchronizes with my thoughts

together they open the door

for what waits to appear
