our daughter lives far away
across the equator, beyond the date line
our son lives by the pacific ocean
a hard two days drive away
we talk of course
and communicate in the digital fashion
but we no longer get to peek in at night
while they are asleep in their beds
or watch them play with their friends
or read them to sleep
but we can look back on our journey
that brought us here
and comprehend some parts of their lives today
as a wise man said
“so it goes”
